Leonard Long, location manager, Hill City, joined Midland Marketing May 26, 2020, when new location opened the doors. Leonard has been involved in agriculture for all but three years of his entire life. He grew up on a farm outside New Almelo, KS. After receiving his Communications Technology degree from Northwest Kansas Technical College, Goodland, KS, he worked the next three years as communications technician. Unable to get farming out of his system, he returned to his home town and worked for a local farmer, managing his custom harvest crew. After four years, he moved to Downs, KS, and began a career as a sprayer operator. After marrying his wife, Joan Campbell, they went on an adventure and moved to Bristol, Connecticut, where he managed a sheep/vegetable farm. After four years, the longing for family and farming brought him back to Kansas. After working on a farm in Alton, KS, Leonard moved to Logan, KS, to work as a sprayer operator for Logan Grain Company. He then secured a job with Rangelend Cooperative in Agronomy Sales and Manager of this department. Prior to accepting his position with Midland Marketing, Leonard worked for Ag Valley Cooperative in Norton, KS first in Agronomy Sales for two years and then as sales and location manager for the next 9 years. Leonard is involved in his church and community. He belongs to the local Knights of Columbus organization and serves as a council member for his church parish. He is also a member of the local Lions Club. Leonard has been married to Joan for 34 years and has two married children. His son, Zach, is married to Desirea and they reside in Hays with their son, Barrett. Daughter, Alaina is married to Keegan Smith, and they live in Goodland, KS. In his spare time, Leonard enjoys hunting, fishing, camping and golfing.
