Serving north central Kansas farming communities for 100+ years.

Midland Marketing Cooperative Team

Striving to be Your 1st Choice

As a full-service, member-owned cooperative, Midland Marketing Coop has roots in north central Kansas that extend back more than 100 years. Although our services and products have evolved during that time, one thing that hasn’t is our unwavering commitment to helping our members and customers succeed.

To do that, weprovide a wide variety of products and services including agronomy, feed, grain, refined fuels, lubricants, farm supplies and crop financing. We have 10 supply sites and 11 elevators in our six-county service area that have a combined grain storage capacity of nearly 12.6 million bushels. Our bulk fuel trucks operate out of Hays and Plainville, and our Cenex®auto service center in Plainville carries premium diesel fuels, Top Tiergasoline, tires and general maintenance services.

These diverse offerings contribute to our strong financial footing, but profitability isn’t our only focus. At Midland Marketing, we treat our members, customers and employees like family. Our overriding objective is to do what’s right to help them reach their goals.

Midland Marketing is a great place to work, and it's a great place to do business. Read on to learn more about our organization and how we can contribute to your success.

Our History

Chartered as the Farmers Cooperative Association of Hays in 1915, Midland Marketing Cooperative has had a rich history in its journey to become a leading cooperative in north central Kansas. Working together to help each other has long been an important focus of our organization. We were tested only five years later, when a neighboring business’s gasoline tank exploded, causing a fire that destroyed all of our facilities. Area farmers came together by raising $25,000 to rebuild the facilities and purchase another elevator in Yocemento.

Our bulk fuel business started in the early 1930s when farmers began switching from horsepower to tractor power. We survived the Great Depression with the help of the Wichita Bank for Cooperatives in 1933, and added a new profitable layer to our business in 1935 when we built a feed mill. We added to our grain storage numerous times in the 1940s and 50s, and had a total capacity of about 3.6 million bushels by 1960.

Mergers with the Plainville Oil Cooperative (1957), Zurich (1966), Natoma Cooperative Association (1982) and Farmers Union Cooperative of La Crosse (1992) helped further shape us into what we are today. In 1993, we adopted the Midland Marketing Cooperative name.

Today we serve nearly 1,000 member-owners and more than 4,100 customers. With a combined storage capacity of nearly 12.6 million bushels, we have elevators located in Hays, Brownell, Hargrave, La Crosse, McCracken, Natoma, Palco, Plainville, Toulon, Yocemento and Zurich to meet the needs of area producers. Our agronomy, grain, petroleum, feed and farm supplies departments each play an important role in the driving the overall success of our operation, and that of our members and customers.

Midland Marketing Agriculture Technology Fund

We were pleased to create an endowment fund in support of ag education at Fort Hays State University (FHSU) in 2019. The Midland Marketing Agriculture Technology Fund helps FHSU’s Department of Agriculture stay ahead of the curve by having access to funding for equipment and technology upgrades.

We believe students need as much hands-on experience with agriculture technology as possible, as it will not only prepare them for the current industry, but also enable them to adapt to future technological changes. These funds are open-ended, meaning that other donors can support their specific initiatives by visiting  https://foundation.fhsu.edu/donate. Simply type “Midland Marketing Agriculture Scholarship” or “Midland Marketing Agriculture Technology Fund” as the area of designation.
