Fertilizer Contracting

Midland Marketing is committed to your fertilizer needs. We offer fertilizer contracting for our customers so that we can provide you the product when you need it. Several have asked about contracting spring fertilizer usage all ready this fall. If you are interested in forward contracting your spring needs we will be happy to get you a quote. We will need to know how many tons and what time frame you plan on using the product. Currently suppliers will offer 30 – 60 day contracts on most products. Midland Marketing does not guarantee the contract will be the low price of the season but a fair price at time of contracting.

Scholarships

November 29, 2007...BASF is partnering with the American Soybean Association (ASA) and the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) to sponsor two new scholarship programs that will provide needed support to students planning to pursue agricultural studies at accredited institutions of higher learning.
BASF and ASA recently announced the 2008-09 Secure Optimal Yield (SOY) Scholarship. The SOY Scholarship is a one-time $5,000 award to an eligible High School senior who plans to declare agriculture as a degree area of study at the University of their choice. The award is to be used directly for tuition, fees, and/or books, not to exceed $2,500 per semester and not to exceed tuition amount with other fee dedicated aid. The scholarship is managed by ASA and sponsored by BASF Corporation.
The SOY Scholarship is named this year in honor of world soybean yield champion Kip Cullers. Scholarship applicants must be the child or grandchild of a current, active member of the ASA (membership in a state soybean association is the same as membership in ASA), and meet all necessary requirements to apply. Non-members can take advantage of this opportunity by first joining ASA. For membership information, go to www.SoyGrowers.com.
Scholarship applications are now being accepted. Complete details and applications are available at www.SoyGrowers.com/sym/scholarship.htm. The deadline for submission of all required information and documentation is December 31, 2007. Applications will be reviewed by an independent committee of the ASA. The decision of the ASA is final.
NCGA Academic Excellence in Agriculture Scholarships
These NCGA scholarships, also sponsored by BASF, are a total of five $1,000 scholarships awarded annually to deserving undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree in an agriculture-related field. Students must be entering at least their second undergraduate year to qualify.
Applicants or their parent or guardian must be a member of the NCGA. Non-members can join the NCGA or a state association prior to applying to be eligible. For membership information, go to http://www.ncga.com. Applications are reviewed by an independent committee of the NCGA and the decision of the NCGA is final.
Deadline for application is January 11, 2008. Application materials and information can be found at www.ncga.com/scholarship
Alert Growers in Your Area
With application deadlines approaching, please make your grower customers aware of these educational opportunities for deserving agricultural students.
The winners of these scholarships will be announced by each organization in early 2008 and presented with their scholarship award by Andy Lee of BASF at Commodity Classic 2008.
Please note: The decisions of the NCGA and ASA are final. BASF is not involved in the selection process for either scholarship program. Relations of employees of BASF or their subsidiaries are not eligible to apply.
